When you’re on location at a farmer’s market in San Francisco, with the clamor of voices and motion all around, you have to embrace a kind of guerrilla photography to wrangle sense out of the chaos. Shifting light? Chase it down. Grapes, apples, and potatoes? Use them, creatively. Old wooden crates? Bend them to your will.
And while you’re hustling from scene to scene, stay open to the kindness of strangers—always. They can surprise you by opening doors you didn’t even know existed. See that produce truck below? A vendor—a former Miss Vietnam—warmly encouraged us to adapt it to our needs, as though it were our own private set. Her generosity made the day.
