Bay Area Portrait and Headshot Photographer: Warm, Candid, Real

I’ve never thought of portrait photography as simply putting someone in front of a camera and asking them to pose.

The best portraits usually come from a combination of preparation, direction, and something less predictable: a genuine moment.

I’m a Bay Area portrait and headshot photographer, specializing in warm, candid photography that aspires to emotional realism. Whether I’m making a professional headshot in San Francisco, a portrait of an individual, or photographs of people together, I want the person in the photograph to feel present, not posed.

That doesn’t mean I leave things to chance.

I take choreography seriously. Where someone stands, how they move, where they look. Good direction gives people something to respond to, rather than simply telling them to “look natural.”

Lighting is part of that process, too. I’m equally comfortable working with available natural light or with strobes when I need more control.

The goal is the same either way: a photograph that feels honest. Real.

Whether I’m making a headshot for a Bay Area professional, a portrait of an individual, or a photograph of people together, I’m looking for the same thing.

Not a scripted pose, but a real moment that happens to have been photographed.
