Senior Photoshoot at Carmel Beach

The light at Carmel Beach was soft, and the sky touched the line where the sand met the sea. Two friends, seniors on the edge of leaving home, were ready to explore new horizons. They hugged. They laughed. And they ran through the surf, splashing water and shouting. They climbed the twisted trees by the shore. Photographing them, I relived the joy and anticipation of a future that lies just beyond the waves.

Quiet: Headshots that Capture the Calm before the Storm

An excellent creative hang with Katherine who exudes sincerity and stillness in equal measure. As the late summer sun spilled through the window, I captured the calm before the storm of visual creation. This outstanding session revealed the full potential of window light and the unvarnished beauty of gray concrete walls.

Candid Family Photography: Grandma and Her Girls

In the long ago, there was a young woman who played tennis with John Newcomb. Over time, she became a force of nature, balancing varied interests with a family and children.

Her kids grew up, fell in love, and had children of their own. During a recent session photographing Grandma and Her Girls, I was reminded once again of the magic in unscripted moments. While posed shots have their place in a family photo session, I’ve decided to embrace an 80/20 rule, maybe even a 90/10 rule going forward—prioritizing candid moments over the staged ones.

Yes, it’s messy, chaotic even. Arms and legs go every which way, and it can be a challenge. But the rewards? They’re more than worth it. View the images below, and I hope you agree.

If you’re looking to capture unscripted moments that tell a part of your family story, let’s connect.

I’m ready to roll.

Actor Headshot: Keziah Jones at the San Jose Egyptian Museum

In any profession, especially the entertainment industry, first impressions are everything. I was thrilled to work with Keziah Jones, a talented up-and-coming actor based in the Bay Area, for a recent outdoor portrait session at the Egyptian Museum in San Jose, CA. The museum’s grounds provided a stunning backdrop, and Keziah brought incredible energy to each shot. Her unique style and presence made for a dynamic session that truly showcases her talent in front of the camera.

As a photographer, it’s always inspiring to collaborate with actors who bring their own distinct vibe to a shoot. Keziah’s confidence and passion for her craft were evident throughout, making it easy to capture her in various poses and outfits.

I’m excited to share these images and can’t wait to see what Keziah accomplishes in her acting career!
